I know, I know, I have missed you this past week as well. Sorry that it has been over a week since my last post, but I have had a lot going on. I have a big event at work that needed some special attention, and it is shaping up to be a great conference. I was also working hard, co-hosting a baby shower for my co-worker Kate, who's baby boy is due in October. (I made all the decorations, pictures to come soon.) Anyway, it's challenge time again over at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog. This week the challenge is to create a shape card, using at least one Cricut cut. Make sure you head over to FCCB and link up your project :) I was digging through all my stamps and found this super cute, Studio G stamp that says "Hello Friend" and I immediately thought of a phone, so I began to search through my cartridges to find a phone that I could use for this challenge. I found a lot of options, but I feel in love with this cut from the Wall Décor and More cartridge. I used the Cricut Craft Room, to weld a flipped version of the image to the top of the phone, to make the card. Then I cut another image using the yellow pattern paper for the front of the card. This image had a cord on one side of it. I cut it off, because the piece was too thin and it looked a bit odd once I put the card together. I finished it off by stamping the sentiment on the front, and adding rhinestones and the circle glass piece for the phone dial. I felt that it still needed something, so I added the pretty paper flowers with rhinestone centers. I love how it turned out and think it will make one of my friends very happy to get this card in the mail.

It's time for another challenge on the Fantabulous Cricut blog!!! This week the theme is "Set the Scene," you create a project that shows a scene, and don't forget you have to use at least one Cricut cut. I wanted to create something soft and peaceful, so I made a beach scene using my decorating chalks and my Cricut.
I cut out the sand castle, bucket and shovel, and the little sand piles using my Create a Critter and Simply Charmed cartridges. Then I used a red and yellow glaze pen to add a little bit of shine and depth to the cuts. I wanted to create a peaceful feeling, so I created a beach with the water, and a setting sun using my decorating chalks. I really love using chalks. I tend to forgot about them, then use them a lot on a few projects before they get "lost" in my craft room again. To create the "printed on" look of the sentiment. I stamped "Thinking of You" on the card, using Versa Mark ink, before I used the chalk, then I ran a couple of light layers over the stamped image with the brown chalk. I love this technique as it always produces a clean and crisp image of your stamp. I finished the card off by putting everything together, using foam tape on the bucket and one of the plies of sand. I love the way the card turned out.

I have the best husband in the world. He knows me so well. Today is my birthday, (the big 3...5...) and after we went to watch our son at his swimming lesson, he took me to brunch, and then on the way home we stopped at JoAnn's and he bought me a new Cricut Mini, yeah!!!! I have a Cricut Expression, but it is pretty worn out. I love it, but after over 5 years of use, it is starting to show some signs of needing to be replaced. I had mentioned that I wanted a mini a couple of months ago, but just had not gone and bought one yet. To say the least, I love my birthday present and can't wait to get it all hooked up and try it out.
Thank you for everyone who has become a new follower of my blog. I had such a great time with the Fantabulous Cricut Red, White, and Blue Cricut Crawl and I'm looking forward to all the great challenges to come.
I used random.org to choose a winner/follower to share some blog candy with. The winner is Tisha Sewell. Congratulations!!! I am slowly catching up on creating and posting my scrapbook pages. This layout is for my 2011 scrapbook. It was the first time that we took Dallas to a movie, we had no choice....Cars 2 was showing. My son has been a Disney Cars fanatic since he was 2 years old. We have almost every character, the bedding, both movies (and Mater's Tall Tales), a backpack, dishes, toothbrush......you get the picture. On a side note...we went yesterday to see Monsters University and there was a preview for a new Disney "Cars" movie called Planes. Dallas was so excited......great, thank you Disney....now I'm sure we will get to buy a bunch of new Planes charters too :)
Anyway, we had a lot of fun, and I am so glad that I thought to take a picture of him in front of the movie poster. Combined with the ticket stubs, it made a great scrapbook page. I also wanted to tell a bit of the story, but I don't like my handwriting, so I created a pocket using the picture and ticket stubs, and it fits nicely. To make the page, I used my Cricut and the Disney Cars cartridge to cut out Lightning McQueen and the Cars logo. I added a sticker "2" to the logo to mimic the Cars 2 logo. Then for the background, I used chalk to create a winding road with grass and a sunset. I love using chalk, it's perfect for those times that you know exactly what you want, but can't find it. For my project I made a baseball card using the colors Red, White, and Blue. Independence Day is about freedom, family, friends, and celebrating with those you love, so I thought that this card would be fun to use as a party invitation. I used my Sports Mania cartridge, but the cuts can also be found on the Best of 2008 cartridge. I cut our the baseball and the ball player. The card is a square card, just to be different. I stamped the word "awesome" on the front using a Recollections stamp set, then I just put it all together. I used foam tape to life the ball player up a bit to add some dimension and movement. I really like how it turned out. Materials Used: Cricut: Sport's Mania (cuts also found on Best of 2008) Stamp: Recollections Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black Paper: Recollections Blog Candy Alert!!!
