It's challenge time again, over at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog!!! This week the challenge is "Cool Treats," you create a yummy, cool, summer treat project. Hop on over to FCCB to link up your project. This weeks sponsor, CRI-Kits, was nice enough to let us use their product for our DT project. I have to say that I had never used a pen or marker in my Cricut before, but now I'm hooked. I love that I was able to draw my watermelon and title, and cut them out exactly. The biggest reason that I don't use many stamps is that I hate having to cut the out, this gave me the best of both worlds. I still got to color it in, but didn't have take all that time cutting all the little bity pieces out. It's wonderful!!! For my Berry Sweet card, I drew and cut out the watermelon and title using the Cricut and the CRI-Kit black pen. Then I colored them in using my BIC markers (like I said, I don't stamp much, so I don't have any Copics). Then I used my Cuttlebug and the Spots and Dots folder to emboss the background paper, used some chevron washi tape to add a border and some pink cardstock to finish the background. I added the watermelon to the background then added the title using foam tape. I really like how it turned out and I learned a new technique that I am sure to use a lot more in the future.

I cut the airplane using my Beep Beep Cricut cartridge, put it together and added a little pen work. The background paper was made using my Cuttlebug and a embossing folder by Darice called Cloudy Sky. I printed the "Flying by to say hi" out using the computer. I used the CK font, Wistful. I think it adds a bit of fun to the project. Then I finished it off using ribbon by Studio G.

I found an exhibit at the Heard Museum in McKinney, Texas, called Dinosaurs Live. It was really neat, life size dinosaurs on a nature trail. Dallas was a little uneasy at first, but once he realized that they were not real, he really liked it. This also gave me a chance to use my Dinosaur Tracks cartridge, which I have had for over a year. I just love how I was able to create everything, the dinosaurs, the palm trees, and the mountains with the same cartridge. I also used my cuttlebug to give the dinosaurs some texture and really make them come alive. Here is another of my wonderful creations from the past couple of days. It is a cute birthday card. I cut the cupcake using Simply Charmed and embossed the second layer using my cuttlebug (you can't see it very well, but it's there). Then I put it all together and stamped "celebrate!" at the bottom.

I have made a handful of cards and I am loving it. I had this stamp set by TPC Studio called "Cupcakes" and I had not used it yet, so I decided to do something with it. This is also the first time I have used my Cricut Fast Food Cartridge. I cut the cup out of glitter paper to make it look like glass, and I love how it turned out.
