I made one last Mother's Day card.  I wanted something fun, light, and fresh, and I think I achieved that very well.  I had bought a stamp set called Love Games by Glitz while at the CK Convention back in Feb, and wanted to use the cute banner stamps.  I cut the scalloped ovals and the banners using my Cricut (Best of 2009 and Cricut Craft Room), then stamped the banners on top of the cutouts.  Then I stamped the sentiment on the ovals, offset just a little bit to leave room for the butterfly.  I felt that it needed a bit more color, so I added blue dots on the scallops and in the corners of the card.  I really love how it turned out.

Materials Used:
Cricut: Best of 2009 & Cricut Craft Room
Paper: Recollections
Stamps: Love Games by Glitz and Hero Arts CL498
Ink: Stampin Up - Chocolate Chip
Ribbon: Adornments by EK Success
Butterfly: Recollections
BIC Pens: Ocean view Blue and Peach Parfait

Challenges:
Hiding in my craft room - Mother's Day
Mark's/Speedy TV - Spring is Here
Pause Dream Enjoy - Outdoor Critters

I had these great Studio G paper flowers that I found on at Michaels.  One set was warm yellows and the other warm reds.  So, I thought I would make two cards, using the same concept and design, just with different colors.  I cut the banner using my new Victorian Romance cartridge.  Next, I made the background using washi tape, and stamped the word "mom" using the Rosewood Alphabet stamp set by Indadinkado and some ink from Stampin Up.  Then I just put it all together.  I popped up the banner and some of the flowers using foam tape.  I really like how the cards turned out.  They are fun and the colors remind me of a happy summer day.

I was super excited to see an email, this morning,  from Cricut/Provo Craft that they were having a big sale on cartridges, and that some of the digital cartridges were really cheap.  I got a little carried away and bought 3 new (old cartridges, but new to me).  The best part is that since I got the digital versions, I only paid $12.00 for each of them.  Yeah!!! I love a good deal.  The best thing about digital cartridges.....you can use them right away.  No waiting for the cartridge to come in the mail.

So, I wanted to use one of them, and thought I would make a Mother's day card.   I really love how great this one turned out.

K is for Kelly

I had this small blank spot on the wall in our hallway that, for the past year and a half, I haven't been able to decide what to put there.  Today, I felt a bit creative, and decided to make something to put there.  I had bought this wood letter "K" from Hobby Lobby, maybe 6 months ago, so I thought this would be perfect.

First, I covered the wood with  blue paper and paint, as that is the color my husband and son both wanted, then, after it was dry, I attached the paper flowers and butterflies. I added pearl centers to each of the flowers to give them a polished look.  I added, a pop dot to the back of each of the butterflies, they just needed a little lift.  I finished it off with a sheer ribbon.  I wanted to use a sheer ribbon, so that it would look light and fun.  This was a great way to spend a lazy afternoon.

Materials Used:
Wood letter K - Hobby Lobby
Cricut - Chip Décor at Hobby Lobby
Paper Flowers - Michaels
Pearls - Michaels
Ribbon - Michaels
Butterflies - Recollections Dimensional Stickers

Thank You From Texas

A co-worker asked me to make a little something that would say thank you from everyone at our organization in Texas, that we can send to a retiring friend in Washington D.C..  So I thought what better way than to scream "Texas", and we did.  I used the Texas shape, word Texas, the Texas Flag, our state flower - the bluebonnet, and a star to represent the Lone Star State.  I think the page turned out really cute and it has plenty of room for personal messages on the back.

Materials Used:
Cricut: 50 States, Craft Room Basics, and Disney Mickey Font
Paper: The Nantucket Stack by DCWV and Recollections
Pen work: Blue gelly roll pen
