I am trying to do better updating my blog, so I wanted to share this great Fourth of July scrapbook page with you. This is actually from July 4, 2014, but I am just now getting around to finishing it and getting it posted. I know, I know, I'm a little behind, but hey we all are, right?
I really wanted to use my Lawn Fawn, Wish you were here stamp and die set, but it just wasn't enough. So, I cut out the starts, the firework and the eagle using my cricut (Independence Day and Artbooking cartridges). Then I used my Cricut Explore and the font "Stars From Our Eyes" to cut out the title. I found the font on DaFont.com. I really love that site, now that I have an explore. I really love how this page turned out and I feel that the black and white picture of my son and I really pops off the page. My job has been keeping me really busy the past year. Though I have loved working for TSHA, I am sad to say that my time there is over. The organization moved from Denton to Austin, and it was not a move that I was able to make. So, I am on the hunt for a new job. The good news is that over the past couple of weeks, I have had the time to catch up on some scrapbooking and card making.
I wanted to feature some of the best pictures of my son, at his age 7 photo shoot, which I took way back in October 2014. We went up to the Denton County Courthouse and I feel that we got some really great shots. I had recently got a Photo frame die from the Stamps of Life and was looking for a reason to use it. I also used 3 different pattern papers, the first is a text paper under the 3 images on the left hand side, then the other two are the same pattern, but in different colors. I love that it makes the whole page feel cohesive. Materials Used: Paper: Everyday Moments pack by Recollections and Recollections Cardstock Stamps of Life: Photo Frame Die Lawn Fawn: Tag your it Die & Violet's ABCs stamps American Crafts: Wood shapes & "Smile" Word Die Spectrum Noir: CT2, CT4, & TB7 (To color the wood shapes) Other: Memento Tuxedo black ink, Ribbon from stash Challenges Entered: Lasting Memories Cut it Up I haven't posted much lately, as I have just not been in the crafting mood. I have had a lot of changes in my life over the past 2 months, and just could not find the time or inspiration to create anything. Yesterday, I made myself sit down in my craft room and make something. To be honest, I tossed the first couple of things I made because they were, lets just say, less than pretty. After that, I decided to open up one of the card kits from the Stamps of Life. I thought this would make creating something nice a little easier. I love Stephanie's products and everything in her card kits coordinate so well. It makes it really, really easy. Hopefully this pulled me out of my crafting funk, and the ideas will start to flow a bit easier. I made 7 cards from the October 2014, Stamps of Life Card Kit, titled "Hearts that Love." This kit came with some really great products, including: pattern paper, "Beautiful" word die with shadow, a mid-size stamp set, ribbon, twine, cardstock, exclusive embellishments & washi tape, tags, and envelopes. Hope you like what I made :) I have been off work for a few days now, but haven't had much time to spend in my craft room. I have repainted and am in the process of redecorating my living and dinning rooms and the kitchen. I had an old canvas painting that I bought years and years ago, and wanted to do something different with in, since it no longer matched my color scheme. So, I painted it to match my living room, added some cricut cut words, and put it all together. I really love how it turned out and it is a perfect addition to the space. Materials Used:
Cricut: Cursive 101 Paint: White & Silver Metallic acrylic paint Paper: Recollections cardstock Challenge Entered: Pause Dream Enjoy Two blog posts in one week. I love this time of the year, as it is the only time I really have to craft.
I just now got around to creating this page, even though I took these pictures 2 years ago. They are of my cousin Alexis. I wanted to use the colors in her shirt, which is a beautiful aqua color; it looked so fantastic next to the bright blue Texas sky. I found a paper pack by DCWV with three shades of aqua, that were a perfect fit for this page. I cut the waves out of the paper using my cricut and attached them to a solid white background. Then I added the pictures, the title (which is a rub on) and the sheer ribbon just for some texture. I love the colors and calm of this layout. Materials Used: Paper: DCWV - Brillants and Brights Textured Cardstock Stack Cricut: Craft Room Basics Title: "Beautiful Smile" - My Minds Eye Ribbon: Simply Sheer White by Horizon Ribbon Challenges Entered: Lasting Memories Take a look at the pictures from the photo shoot. I took these pictures in June 2012 at the Fort Worth Water Gardens. I am a bit sad, for I am going to miss Halloween with my family. I will be in Galveston, Texas for the Texas Council for the Social Studies meeting. Though I see the value of attending the event, for work, I am missing Halloween with my now 7 year old son, and our neighbors. At least it gives my son and husband some father-son time and I know that they will have a great time. I decided that since I will not be able to be there, that I was going to make all the kids that we usually go trick-or-treating with a little goody bag. I have been working so much lately, that I haven't had time to do much crafting. If feels so good to be able to spend just a couple of hours in my craft room, and to just relax and do something I love. Just because I have not had time to craft, doesn't mean that I have stopped buying new product. (Scrapbook hording at it's best!). So, I wanted to use some of the new products that I have purchased. I started by making the bags, using my new We R Memory Keepers gift bag punch board. It was a bit confusing at first, and I totally messed up the first one, but I got it after that, and it was really easy to use, once I learned the correct pattern. Next I used some of my new Lawn Fawn stamps and coordinating dies. All the rectangles were cut using the Large and Small Stitched rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn. Then I cut out the tree from the Lawn Fawn Sweater Weather die set, and stamped and cut the tombstone and cute little ghost using the Spooktacular Stamp and die set. To make the background I used my Stamps of Life ink pads in Plum and Cornflower. I just used a blending tool to put the color on, layering it over and over, until I got the look I wanted. I used the same technique to make the black hills, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I was able to make the top darker than the bottom, to make it look like it was further away. To cut out the hill, I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside die. I think this might be my favorite new die. I have so many ideas of cards to make using this set. I love the stitched detail on all of the dies, I think it really adds a little something to my projects. I stamped the sentiment, from the Spooktacular Stamp set, using versa mark ink, then heat embossed it using white embossing power. It really pops off the black cardstock, and I love it. I think the kids will really love the gift bags. I filled them with some Halloween treats and glow bracelets, so they can all glow and be safe while they are out trick-or-treating.
