Last summer, right before school started, we decided that we wanted to do something fun as a family. We chose to drive over to Fort Worth to visit the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, and since Dallas wanted to take a friend, we asked our neighbors and their granddaughter, Hailey to go with us. We did so much, and had a great time doing everything. We made paper airplanes in the "How Do Planes Fly" special exhibit, we learned about the Solar System in the Planetarium, we played with all the hand-on exhibits, toured the Cattle Raisers Museum, and so much more. By far, Dallas' favorite part was the dinosaur exhibit and the dino dig, where he and Hailey got to become archeologist and did to find dinosaur bones. To make this layout, I cut out all the pieces using my cricut (Create A Critter, Disney Mickey Font, and Elegant Edges). Then I inked around all the edges using Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress ink, and then started putting it all together. I love how the 3 different pattern papers work so well together, and how the fuzzy ribbon works to anchor the layout. The two little dinosaurs are as cute as can be. I finished it off by printing my journaling on a transparent sheet and tucking and attaching it under the pictures so it would stay down and no one would see the adhesive. Time to start planning this year's pre-school field trip. So, these pictures are from 2010, but I had such a great time thinking back and remembering this day. It goes a little something like this...I give child a bath, leave child with my husband so I can relax in a bath, when I'm finished, I find my husband and our son outside, and child is covered in mud, back to the bath again. Oh well, at least Dallas had a great time, splashing and running in the mud puddles. For this layout, I had these big blue buttons, I think I got them at Wal-Mart, then I used paper and ribbon from Recollections, and typed the journaling on my laptop and printed it out. I don't like my handwriting, so when I have a story to tell I usually type it. I only handwrite on tags and things that I can hide :) Challenges Entered: Lasting Memories
Every year, since we moved to Denton, we have gone to the University of North Texas football stadium to watch their fireworks show. Dallas and I, both love the show (with the exception that it is crazy loud), and love that we get to spend time with some of the wonderful new friends we have made. This scrapbook page is actually from 2013, but I am just now getting around to blogging about it. It features my son, Dallas and his best friend, and our neighbor, Hailey. I wanted to create a page that screamed Independence Day, which was harder than I thought. I have been scrapbooking for a long time now, and I wanted a page that was unique and different from the others I had made. I decided on some patriotic papers, then broke out my Independence Day Cricut Cartridge, and started looking through the images until I found one that I thought would be a good focal point. The rest of the page, just fell into place, and I absolute love how it turned out. Now on to come up with another great idea for this year's pictures :) Materials Used: Cricut: Independence Day, Phrases, Home Décor, and Plantin Schoolbook Paper: DCWV Textured Cardstock, Recollections Cardstock, and The Paper Studio All Seasons II paper pack Other: Ribbon from scraps stash, foam tape, black sharpie, and Tea Dye Distress Ink by Tim Holtz
I know I said that I would do better, and blog more often, but LIFE keeps getting in the way. Actually, WORK keeps getting in the way. I did get a chance to do some crafting this morning. I made my dad a card for Father's day. He is actually giving me a great present for Father's day, he is taking my son for the next two weeks, so I can go to our Old Stories, New Voices summer camp. It is a ton of fun, and I know that Dallas will have a wonderful time with his Papa Roger. This was a pretty easy card. I stamped the frog and lily pad using the Stamps of Life Froggy2Love stamp set and the Stamps of Life Artichoke ink. I then cut them out using the coordinating dies. Next, I cut out the front panel using the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Journaling Card die and cut the top using the Lawn Fawn Speech Bubble die. I stamped "Hoppy" using the Stamps of Life Froggy2Love set, and the "Father's Day" using the Hero Arts Phrases set (CL498). I ran the speech bubble through my Big Shot, using the Journal Card die as well, so it would have the same stitched border on it. On the card base, I used some green Washi tape from Studio G, then attached the panel on the top. I love how this card turned out, and I really think my Dad is going to love it as well. Plus, I had such a good time playing with all my new stamp and die sets. I had a wonderful time at the Great American Scrapbook Convention yesterday :)

This time of the year, is always really hard for me. I just have a lot going on. So much in fact, that I haven't had any time to craft at all, which makes me super sad. Between, being busy at work, my son having a hard time in kindergarten, and my side job just wrapping up, things have been really crazy. Crafting is my hobby and my passion, and I hope that I will have more time to spend in my craft room in the next few months.
Though I haven't had time to do any crafting, I have had some time to shop. My husband says that I am a scrapbook supply hoarder. LOL.....at least the craft room is clean....well, mostly clean. I want to catch everyone up on what I have been up to in the past 4 months.
